Chiropractic Care
In the years spanning the period from the late 19th Century to today, chiropractic has developed into a popular form of conservative treatment all over the world. Even so, you might see this healing modality as a bit of a mystery, especially if you have never experienced its benefits firsthand. But chiropractic care has proven itself to be highly effective in a great many applications, from pain management to preventative wellness care.
Find out how the chiropractic services at Spinalcare Chiropractic Clinic can enhance your quality of life.
What Is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care (a term originating in the Greek phrase for “performed by hand”) is a method of manipulating joints that have fallen slightly (or sometimes not-so-slightly) out of their normal alignment.
This type of misalignment is called subluxation, and it can have a drastic effect on your posture, joint health, the range of motion, and nerve function. By gently but precisely shifting the joints back into their optimal position using high-velocity, low-amplitude force Dr. Chan can help your body heal more thoroughly and function more normally. At the same time, the techniques we use can ease acute or chronic pain and other symptoms.
What Is Activator Methods®?
Activator Methods uses a specialized handheld tool to adjust various areas of the body. This small tool can be used to deliver a gentle, but precise, force through muscles, tendons, ligaments and vertebrae in your back. Its primary difference from traditional manipulation is the use of lighter manipulation force and more precise adjustments.
This gentle force is designed to improve motion to this area and to adjust the position of your spine carefully. It is a less intense version of the high-velocity, low-amplitude methods used by most chiropractors. Activator Methods has become one of the most common techniques and is used by more than half of American chiropractors.
Chiropractic care is known for its versatility as a form of care. Its potential was discovered rather unexpectedly in 1895 when D. D. Palmer found that adjustments to the cervical spine improved a patient’s longtime hearing impairment.
Its effectiveness is partly due to its positive effects on the nervous system. Adjustments that shift bones or discs away from nerve tissue can relieve compression that might otherwise contribute to systemic health conditions or prevent the body from healing itself.
Chiropractic can relieve damaging stress on joints and soft tissues. It is useful for
- Spinal manipulation for posture correction
- Sports injuries
- Headaches and migraines
- Chronic pain conditions
- Neck pain
- Back pain
- Auto accident injuries
- Sciatica
- Neurological symptoms in the upper extremities
- Repetitive motion injuries in the workplace
You don’t behave to be hurting to experience the benefits of chiropractic care. In fact, this healing modality could be your most powerful preventative wellness tool. Regular chiropractic screenings and adjustments can help ensure that your nervous system is always working correctly, which in turn can help you stay healthy and comfortable for life.
Working with an Activator chiropractor can help manage a variety of severe pain issues. The unique treatment method provided by this technique can quickly alleviate many types of pains, including
- Auto accident pain (whiplash and vertebrae damage, etc.)
- Work injuries (slips and falls, etc.)
- Lower back pain (slipped discs and muscle strain, etc.)
- Mild to moderate headaches (tensional headaches and migraines, etc.)
- Sports injuries (sprains and strains, etc.)
Whiplash: this is a common auto accident injury caused by the whip-like movement of the neck when the body is suddenly jolted to a stop or changes direction.
Chronic pain: with both physiological and psychological influences, many of our patients experience long-standing pain in their back, neck, shoulder, hip, and leg.
Herniated disc or bulging disc: the intervertebral discs between your spinal bones can sometimes bulge out of place or herniate (tear and leak out its inner fluid), leading to compression or irritation to surrounding structures.
Degenerative disc disease: a gradual breakdown and thinning of the discs, leading to narrowed joint spaces in the spine.
Headaches and migraines: head pain can range from mild to severe, with migraines typically being the most severe and occurring with additional symptoms like nausea and light sensitivity; headaches are often caused or exacerbated by poor posture, food, stress and other environmental factors.
Plantar fasciitis: heel pain due to inflammation and irritation in the tissue on the underside of the foot.
Scoliosis: an abnormal side-to-side curvature (S-shaped or C-shaped) in the spine, often detected in childhood.
Sciatica: impingement of the sciatic nerve causing severe leg pain; this and other nerve impingement syndromes (such as carpal tunnel syndrome) are common work-related injuries.
Osteoarthritis: chronic joint inflammation due to wearing down of protective intra-articular cartilage.
